British Land UK Chess Challenge - Landau Forte College. Derby. Saturday May 15th.
St Mary's Primary Chesterfield won the New Derbyshire County Council Chairman's Trophy.
Congratulations to Sally McIntosh for organising and running a very successful day. Many thanks to Robin Baldry Chairman of the County Council for sponsoring the trophy for a new Derbyshire Schools competition. Below is seen the reporter from the local newspaper at St Mary's.

The important thing about this article is that it is part of a page dedicated to schools, children and fundraising. We consider this as chess in the mainstream of schools and education as seen by the newspaper and not just as a 'Geek' pass time. We will put the whole of the page on line if we secure permission to do so. For the readers from the USA we have to explain that Geek here has a totally different meaning to that in the United States. For our readers here, a Geek in the USA is someone who is passionate about something without going completely off the rails, basically.
Emma is often expected to be a Geek and is called that by some people. She doesn't mind the people who call her Geek, in a few years they will call her boss.
